PAiN JoURnAl

I'm thinking of renaming this blog Pain Journal.

Well, I found a dentist, but for various reasons I need to wait for Bella to get off work. Can I hold out until 4PM?!?

I'm trying to eat a small bowl of room-temperature, unsweetened Malt-O-Meal. I need to get something in my stomach.

sucks to be me

Mood: sleepless and in pain

Well, I was fine until I got home from school. Then the toothache started again. And it was pretty much constant, reaching an all-time high in pain. After about four hours of trying to endure the pain, hoping it would just go away, I decided I had to call Bella. She asked me to call around and see if I could find a 24 hour emergency dentist. Being in the pain that I was, I did a very poor job of it. When Bella arrived, she continued the search. She finally found one, but it would have been very expensive (an extra $100 just to open the doors after hours) and it was too far. The dentist did say that I could take up to 800mg of Advil every six hours. So Bella bought me some Advil and I took some immediately. After Bella dropped me off, I went straight to bed. I was able to fall asleep, but ended up waking up around 2:30AM. I took another dose at 3AM, but either it hasn't kicked in yet, or the toothache is so bad that the Advil can only help so much. I made several attempts to lie down and go back to sleep. It's not gonna happen. So here I sit. Trying to pass the time. Blogging in pain.

I did look in a home remedies book I have, and it suggested either putting ice on the effected area or holding cold water in your mouth. The ice only seemed to intensify the pain, but the cold water seems to help. But I was drinking so much water--having to get a fresh mouthful every few minutes to at least keep the pain to a bearable level--I was having to frequently "utilize the facilities", to quote Bella. So now I've resorted to spitting out the water. It's a routine to which I've grown accustomed.

Well, it's now 5AM. Only four more hours to go until the dentist offices start opening up.

Four hours.

"What are you eating?" "My teeth!"

Mood: relieved

So I haven't posted in a while. At least part of the reason is because for the last two days, I've had some rather intense nocturnal toothaches, and I've had to try to sleep during the day. (Yes, more missed school.) I've had plenty to say, just not the willpower to say it. I am going to school today, so I can't fill you in on everything just yet. Just know that last night there was no pain and I slept the night through. How wonderful! I will never take a good night's sleep for granted again.
