New Modem From AOL

Mood: Excited

Just installed the new external modem I received from AOL as a teaser to stick with them. (The teaser is working so far.)

I am now connected at 31.2K instead of 28.8! Woohoo!!! Okay, so it's a modest increase in speed, but it's FREE! Now if they would just send the version 9.0 software....

Up & At It!

Mood: Working

I'm staying home from school today, assuming Teddie won't be there. Without her there, I am pretty much on my own, so I figure I can be on my own at home. Besides, I have work I need to do.

I actually got up early this morning. For the first time in days, I didn't wake up worrying about money. A lot of interest has been shown in my business lately. I've decided it's the combination of promotion methods that is doing the trick. Between the Google ad campaign, my sales emails, and most recently the eBay auction, there is a steady stream of prospects. A surprising number of them are expressing interest in higher dollar design packages, which is exciting. But I'm still waiting for any of them to send me money.

At any rate, it's all very encouraging. Now, back to work....

Sad News From School

There is a substitute teacher at school today. Teddie, our regular teacher, left early because her father died. She may be going to Europe (Russia?) to be with her family.

Fortunately, I know what I am doing. Still designing logos from the phone book. But I don't know how much longer I can do that.

It's kind of sad, but I've been working a little on my own sales here at school. I am wheeling and dealing with a couple of customers. I even sent a payment request via PayPal.com. Don't worry, I've been getting school work done, too!

Now, I'm just wasting time, waiting for class to end. (Well, there's no real specific time for it to end, but I don't want to leave too early.)

From here, I am going to go put out more applications at the Galleria and surrounding area. I also have a few items I am going to sell for cash. Then I will walk home from the mall to save on bus money.

The money situation is looking up, though! I just need to buy a little time until some payments come through.

Bella's mom really, really upset her last night. It's extremely frustrating not being able to do anything but comfort Bella. I'd really love to give her mom a piece of my mind, but know that would only make things worse. Her mom just doesn't understand how hard she works. WHY CAN'T HER MOM SEE THAT?!? Ugh!

Bad Mood

Mood: Discouraged

The mood I'm in right now, I am fully prepared to give up on graphic design altogether and just get a shitty job flipping burgers. It seems like no matter what I do, I can't get my business going. People show interest and then never order. After today, if there are no results, I will be ending the Google ad campaign. I've spent over $10 on it and only had two people show an interest, neither of which put an order through. I'm tired of trying to figure out what will work.

I just want to stop worrying about money so much. I'm tired. Very tired.

It doesn't help matters that I've been thinking more about the accident. I will have to write about that later. It disturbed me to the core.

So tired. I need Bella.
