AOL... Not So Bad?

Mood: Pleased

I may have mentioned that I am (was?) testing PeoplePC as my ISP. Well, I called up AOL to cancel my account, explaining that I could no longer afford it and that I was having problems with the software crashing my computer. They offered to give me:
  • 2 FREE months of service

  • a FREE external modem

  • the latest 9.0 version of the software on CD

How could I resist?!? Thanks, Joseph @ AOL!

Bella and I are going to go to Redlands for our Valentine's Day Picnic. This includes BRC's at Cuca's! Don't let this deceptively simple burrito fool you... it's delicious no matter where you get one. (And believe me, Bella and I have tried them at just about every restaurant.) It's hard to go wrong with a BRC.

But now? Time for a nice, warm bowl of Malt-o-Meal. Mmmmm....

Wil Wheaton & the Game Keeper

Mood: blah

Wil Wheaton mentioned the Game Keeper, where I used to work. Well, I didn't work at the one in LA, but you know what I mean.

I've been feeling very blah all day. Woke up with a stomach ache, worked too little, didn't eat much, played too much NHL 2001 because I was feeling bad, took a nap that was way too long.... Now, I've been sitting at the computer too long without a break and am starting to get a headache.

Oh, sorry about that.

I have had a couple of leads from the Google ad campaigns. Nothing major. I need to be sure to keep a watch on how much I spend on this advertising. I may just be better off sending out sales emails. (Doing so, though free, hasn't yielded results in a long time.)

One last thing: It's official! I'm a Starling Mom.

Advertising My Business

Mood: Hopeful

Last night I started some ad campaigns for my business using Google's AdWords. It's cheap, but how effective it is remains to be seen. I am hopeful, though. The job search hasn't been successful yet, so I need to get some cash flowing again with my business.

My teacher told me for the umpteenth time that I should get a job in graphic design. So I said, "Well, are you going to help me?" The question caught her by surprise, but I smiled to let her know I was at least partly joking, knowing full well that is not her job. I think she will be an excellent reference, however.

Well, I really have to get going. I still have to get ready for school and make my lunch before leaving at 8.

Bye!

Morning with Strong Bad

Mood: Entertained
Last ate: Big bowl of Cheerios with Brown Sugar

As I was waiting for my pants to be "refreshed" in the dryer, I had a bowl of cereal and decided to do some surfing. Balancing the bowl in one hand is a real challenge when you're catching a wave. Er, I mean, uh, no... nevermind.

Well, I was balancing the bowl in one hand, but the other was using the mouse to surf the 'net! And, as boring as that sounds, doing so isn't really that difficult. Oh, that's BAD, Greg!

Before I start sounding even more silly, just check out Strong Bad's latest email, "Monument".

I'm going to go put on some (re)fresh(ed) pants now....

Lazy Morning No. 2

Mood: Blah / Lazy
Last ate: Multi-Vitamin and a Garlic Tablet Washed Down With Milk

I purposefully got up a half-hour early so I could have another lazy morning. I briefly considered using that extra 30 minutes to walk down and have a donut for breakfast... but I'm too lazy, even for that! Instead of having breakfast, I'm on the 'net. Don't worry, I'm taking a meal bar (my last) with me to school, in addition to my lunch.

Anyway, I must apologize for all the emails you may have received yesterday. I discovered that any time I publish changes to the site (it doesn't even have to be a new blog entry), it automatically sends out the last entry. So in the future I will try to keep these to a minimum. Just know that if you receive a duplicate email, chances are something has changed on the site, other than a new post.

In fact, you will see that quite a few changes were made. I am actually quite excited about some of them, such as the Memorable Entries section and the Quick Searches feature. (With the latter, you can now quickly find all entries about Bella or Ibby. I will be adding more as the need/desire arises.) So please, check out the site, in addition to reading these entries.

I had Placebo's "Burger Queen" on infinite repeat earlier, and now Bjork's "Hyper-Ballad". Two fabulous songs.

Eeewww... I forgot taking vitamins on an empty stomach makes me slightly nauseous. (What a funny spelling that word has!)

Well, I better wrap things up. I want to meditate/vegetate for a few minutes before I have to leave at 8....

Still @ Home

Well, here I am, still at home. I just got out of the shower, so obviously I'm running behind. I think going downtown would eat up too much time, and I don't feel like editing on the bus, so either I will go to the local La Sierra branch library, or I will stay home and edit here. The latter is very likely, as the house is nice and quiet right now.

I do need to run to the bank, though.

But the house is so peaceful....

No School!

Mood: Happy!
Last ate: Big bowl of Malt-o-Meal and coffee sweetened with brown sugar

I checked the Riverside Unified School District web site this morning to verify that there is, indeed, no school today! This has allowed me to update my site with a few changes. And, I can get some much-needed editing done to this manuscript I am way behind on. I may just take myself down to the main branch library to edit among the stacks. Need to make use of the last day of my bus pass.

I have a couple ideas for novelty blogs rolling around in my head. Of course, they are very low priorities, so I don't know when I will have something to show you, dear readers. So much work to do....

I will get to see Bella tonight! Not sure if I will go over there or she will come over here. She wants to watch the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show with her dad. It's one of those things they do together. Of course, I am more than happy to accommodate that. She may come over here and leave early. :( But so long as I get to see my Bella... I'm happy!

Welp... off to shave'n'shower!

Lazy Morning No. 1

Mood: Lazy

I decided to get up early so I could have a leisurely morning. Originally, I intended to get up around 7am, but after utilizing the facilities, I laid back down for another 40 minutes or so. Now I'm spending my leisure time cleaning the ants out of my coffee machine. Sadly, this involves repeatedly running water through the machine with no coffee and no filter, then emptying the cup (you may recall it's a single-serving coffee machine) of ant-flavored hot water into the sink. I think I've got them all, but I'm doing the process a few more times to make sure I don't get a cup of protein-added coffee.

I thought maybe I would be a little productive this morning, but that has yet to happen. I want a cup of coffee, dammit! ;)

Bella and I were both very sleepy last night. She says I "dissed" her last night; I briefly opened my eyes long enough to see her smiling at me then immediately closed them again, with no sign of affection from me. Apparently I was also frowning in my sleep. I think I recovered quite nicely, telling her that I was so extremely sleepy when I looked at her that I had no control over my facial expression. Of course, I have no memory of any of this, but I assure you that Bella is a reliable source.

Yesterday, I let Ibby and the budgies out for a while. Ibby tried to go--or, rather, went--in the 'keet cage, with Max still inside. I hurriedly grabbed the little trouble maker (that being Ibby, of course) before he had a chance to find a nice little blue bird to peck at. (That could be deadly.)

Anyway, I am going to go finish my leisurely morning before heading out to church.
