Our Home

Mood: in disbelief

Even though it was secured this morning, I just can't believe it. Bella and I found our home. It is perfect. Everything we wanted. A dream.

But it's real. Last week, Bella and I went apartment-hunting. We planned to spend a whole day just looking at various apartments, weeding out the ones that were not pet-friendly, and hoping to find one we could be comfortable living in for a year or two until we find something better. After making our way down a street of more than half a dozen apartment complexes, Bella decided to show me the one she found while driving randomly with her mother. We called ahead, verified that pets were allowed and asked if we could take a look.

Though Bella could tell they were pretty cute from the outside--even at dusk, when she first saw them with her mom--she had no idea just how cute they were on the inside. And here, dear reader, "cute" is not necessarily synonymous with "small". Surely, it's not a large apartment by any stretch of the imagination, but it is a good, comfortable size. The living room, in fact, could be considered roomy. The two bedrooms are adequate for our needs (though one will be converted into a library/office/studio), the kitchen is smallish yet functional, the bathroom sufficient, and the patio... a little piece of heaven!

The previous tenant apparently spent a lot of time and money fixing up the patio, complete with a pond, flowering vines and a series of cute little patio lights lining the eaves. I spoke with the previous tenant this morning and she had hoped that the new tenants would appreciate her hard work. We do. Or will, rather.

I will move in on February 25th. Bella will join me in our new home on June 17th.

There is so much more to say, but I will save my fingers and let pictures tell the story. I hope to post "Before" and "After" pics sometime shortly after I move in. I can't wait!
